Why doctors get frustrated easily and who suffers?

When i had not yet entered medical school, i used to ask myself why the doctors and also other health proffesionals shout at patients, are so cold towards them and also, don't give them a warm smile. I then got the answer to my question when i got to the medical school. In my first clinical year, i went to the emergency and also to the theatre, the out patient department(opd). Once, a female patient came in with a wet gangrene on her right toe and i remember the resident shouting at her and blaming her for not bringing it early enough since they would have to amputate it then he started shouting at a friend and i blaming us for not reading thus not able to answer the question asked.I had a patient that evening at the emergency ward who was not compliant i was so furious that i started shouting at the patient. i later on directed the anger onto a friend. The frustration has to do with non compliant patients and also working 24hrs with little sleep and this makes it easy for you to pour it out onto people whom you know are fragile and can't shout back at you. I guess all medics should then practice the art of patience.
