A review of the Caribbean Medical Schools:
Mansour MD
There are about 18 medical schools in the Caribbean that offer the same curriculum as US medical school. Majority of these schools are affiliated with US hospitals, most of which are in the Northeast. You can negotiate a hospital of your choice to do your clinical rotations. I was able to do my Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran.
After a successful and rewarding career as petroleum engineer I decided to change my career to become a doctor of medicine and spend my retirement time in research in human genome, my passion for life. An offshore medical school was my realistic choice. After fulfilling my premed courses in biology I was accepted at Ross University of Medical School (www.rossmed.edu). I was the oldest student among many intelligent young students. Almost all are practicing in the USA. I salute them for their endeavor to go to a foreign medical school due to limited students that US medical school can enroll.
Please send your feedback and any question you may have.

Posted by Mansour on Apr 27, 2003 - 09:35 PM My score: As far as I know the St. George's Medical school has more hospital affiliate for med student in United Kingdom. But keep in mind that you can go to any hospital to do your rotations. I can make some arrangement for those who are interested to go to Iranian hospitals for their rotations.

Individually, I think the foreign medical students have limit chances to accept the residency in US. Moreover, sometimes they are limited to practice in some states. Before decide to apply to foreign medical schools, you could try to apply in US.
