Hi y'all,

I just thought I'd let you know that APAMSA (Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association) is planning a National Pre-Medical Students' Conference in the University of Texas - Austin, during Fall 2003.

As the Pre-Med National Conference Chair, I was wanting to spread the word, and I will put up information soon as we develop this project more. I have also been collaborating with the AMSA (American Medical Student Association) National President and the Pre-Medical Trustees on spreading the word and perhaps expanding so that it will not only be for the Asian Pacific Islander community, but for ALL Pre-Medical Students.

I WANT TO GET INVOLVED WITH NATIONAL MEDICAL-RELATED ACTIVITIES...I WAS WONDERING HOW YOU CAN BECOME A CHAIR FOR AN ORGANIZATION LIKE YOURS?

Well, you get elected at National Conventions . This is an APAMSA (Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association) Sponsored event. In fact, it's the first National Convention just for Pre-Medical students.

It was felt by the APAMSA leadership, that the AMSA as well as APAMSA conferences concentrated too much on medical students and not enough on pre-medical students, and so here we are, with this being my baby project .

So um...yeah. Basically, I'm in charge of setting this up, and as you all know it will be in Austin, Texas. As far as date, I am still deciding whether Fall 2003 or Spring 2004 would be better, so it wouldn't conflict with AMSA and APAMSA National Conferences. So that's all.

do you have to be an Asian Pacific American to join?

Is there a website for this organization or can i find it here?

for APAMSA, you dont have to be Asian American, though there is still the regular AMSA which includes all people no matter what as well.

i have added the links to the links, hopefully they will get approved. i really haven't had anyone ask me anything about the conference though, which is rather disapponiting..

okay so what about the conference. Where is it held? how often? is there a fee to join? do you have an office at UCLA?

does this conference by any chance make its way to la or California at all please let me know because I would liket to attend.

i know that APAMSA has a chapter at UCLA. talk to Lisa Tseng over there. hopefully you can contact her as i know i haven't been able to so far.

but since this is the first conference, it'll be in UT-Austin, cuz well, I'm in charge of it, and I'm hosting so i get to choose where it is
