actually gmail is still not available to the public. Google wants to be sure only invited people can have it. its been in "beta" for over a year and will probably be made available like hotmail and yahoo maybe this year or next. till then google allows people to have it only if they were invited by someone. i don't know how you can get an invitation. they just gave me 50 invites to give to people. if you want them, i can send them to you, i think.
